Fritz Drasgow is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Network Member of the Identity and Personality (IP) network. He serves on the editorial review boards of eight prominent journals including Applied Psychological Measurement, Journal of Applied Psychology, and the International Journal of Selection and Assessment.
Drasgow earned both his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His educational background forms the foundation for his extensive contributions to psychological science.
His research spans psychological measurement, computerized testing, and sexual harassment outcomes, with recent focus on psychometric theory for personality assessment. He pioneered the Tailored Adaptive Personality Assessment System (TAPAS) using ideal point models where response probability peaks when items match an individual's trait level. This innovative approach employs multidimensional forced-choice formats and adaptive item selection for maximum efficiency.
Drasgow has held significant leadership roles including former chair of the American Psychological Association's Committee on Psychological Tests and Assessments, the U.S. Department of Defense's Advisory Committee on Military Personnel Testing, the APA Taskforce on Internet Testing, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Psychometric Oversight Committee. He served as President of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP).
His distinguished contributions were recognized with the SIOP Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award.
