معرفی
Friederike Cuello is a researcher at the University of Hamburg, affiliated with the Medical Faculty and the Department of Experimental Medicine. Her work focuses on cardiovascular biology, molecular cardiology, and signaling pathways in heart failure. She is a member of the Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) and the Center for Inflammation, Infection and Immunity (C3i), where she investigates mechanisms underlying heart dysfunction, particularly in HFpEF and mitochondrial disorders. In 2025, she was awarded the Schmiedeberg Medal for her contributions to G-protein signaling research. Her studies often use engineered heart tissues and iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes to model disease, and she has published extensively on cGMP-dependent kinases, protein oxidation, and metabolic pathways in cardiac cells.
- Education: Expertise in molecular biology and cardiology, with a focus on translational research.
- Research Interests: Cardiac signaling, mitochondrial dysfunction, and regenerative medicine approaches to heart failure.
Her recent work highlights the role of nitroxyl donors in modulating blood pressure and the impact of protein kinases like PKD1 on heart development. She collaborates on projects involving septic cardiomyopathy and the redox regulation of cardiac proteins. Key findings include identifying novel mechanisms in HFpEF and the use of engineered tissues to study intercalated disc composition's role in disease progression.
