Freek Beekman

Prof. Dr. Freek Beekman is a part-time professor and section leader of Biomedical Imaging at the Radiation Science & Technology (RST) department of the TU Delft Reactor Institute. He is also a renowned entrepreneur, having founded Molecular Imaging Labs (MILabs) in 2006 and later launching Free Bee International, focusing on innovation in nuclear medicine.

Research & Innovation: Freek pioneered ultra-high-resolution SPECT and PET scans, including simultaneous imaging and novel methods for in vivo visualization of alpha and beta emitters. His technologies are globally deployed in fundamental research and therapeutic development for cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative disorders.

Collaboration & Mentorship: He has mentored numerous PhD students and postdocs, many of whom continued careers at his companies. He actively advises start-ups, including YES!Delft ventures, and collaborates with global institutions.
