Fredrik Olsson is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Statistics at Lund University. He serves as the Head of the Division of Mathematical Statistics and holds the title of Docent. Additionally, he is recognized as an Excellent Teaching Practitioner (ETP). His work bridges academic leadership and innovative research in mathematical statistics.
His research interests are centered around inventory systems, operations research, and mathematical modeling. Key areas include:
- Inventory control strategies, such as base-stock and age-based approaches
- Stochastic processes like Poisson processes and ergodicity analysis
- Optimization of supply chain dynamics, including emergency lateral transshipments and non-linear backorder costs
- Development of sustainable inventory management frameworks
Olsson’s articles emphasize applying advanced mathematical techniques to real-world inventory challenges. Recent work explores topics such as state-dependent demand modeling and emergency replenishment systems, contributing to both theoretical and practical operational research advancements.
He has been honored with the Excellent Teaching Practitioner (ETP) title, underscoring his dedication to education. In advising roles, Olsson has supported doctoral research in inventory systems, serving as an assistant supervisor for:
- "Mathematical modelling and control of inventory systems"
- "Evaluation and control of sustainable inventory systems with shipment consolidation"
His involvement in these academic projects highlights engagement with funded research initiatives.
