Fredrik Bengtsson is a Senior Lecturer at Lund University, affiliated with the department of Neural Basis of Sensorimotor Control. His research focuses on understanding sensorimotor processing, cerebellar circuitry, and neuronal information dynamics. He has supervised multiple doctoral students including A. Mellbin, J. Norrlid, A. Wahlbom, and J. Enander. His work spans in vivo neurophysiological studies, exploring topics such as neuronal coding, synaptic plasticity, and the functional roles of cerebellar structures.
Research interests include cerebellar modules, climbing fiber-Purkinje cell interactions, and the impact of focal lesions on neocortical information processing. Bengtsson has contributed to studies on tactile sensory processing, sensorimotor integration, and feedback control mechanisms in neural pathways. His articles highlight advancements in understanding neural dynamics, such as the role of cuneate nucleus neurons in tactile representation and the effects of weak tactile inputs on cortical responses.
Notably, he has organized workshops and conferences on sustainable development and participated in collaborative projects like LCCC (2008–2018), emphasizing interdisciplinary research in control systems and neuroscience. His work bridges theoretical and experimental neuroscience, with applications in neuroplasticity and motor control.
