Frederik Pedersen

Dr. Frederik Pedersen is Emeritus Senior Lecturer in Medieval History at the University of Aberdeen. His scholarship focuses on medieval legal systems, particularly marriage litigation in ecclesiastical courts and the application of canon law in Northern Europe.

Groundbreaking research on the York Consistory Court records established new methodologies for analyzing legal procedures and social contexts of medieval litigation. Recent work examines gender dimensions in legal practice and the reception of canon law in Scandinavia.
