Prof. Dr. Frederik Elwert is a Professor at the Center for Religious Studies (CERES) at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. He specializes in Digital Humanities, Sociology of Religion, and Network Research. His work focuses on integrating computational methods with religious studies, particularly in analyzing religious texts and online communication. Elwert leads the Digitisation of Gandharan Artefacts (DiGA) project and subprojects within the Collaborative Research Center (SFB 1475) on 'Metaphors of Religion'. He also coordinates the CERES Digital Humanities Initiative.
Elwert’s research spans topics such as religion and migration, religious online discourses, and the application of network analysis to religious texts. He holds a doctorate from Leipzig University (2014) and has coordinated multiple interdisciplinary projects.
