Frederick Noland is an Adjunct Professor in the Comics Program at California College of the Arts (CCA), where he contributes to the education of emerging visual storytellers. He is based in Oakland, California, and actively engages in both teaching and professional creative practice.
His artistic work focuses on comics, visual storytelling, and biographical narratives. Notably, his comics have been published in The New Yorker, and he created the public art series San Francisco Black History for the San Francisco Arts Commission. In 2023, his memoir comic collection titled Steady Rollin' was released. He is currently developing a biographical comic about Major Taylor, the first Black World Champion in road cycling and an early international sports icon.
