Franziska Pia Faustmann serves as a Lecturer at the Department of Educational Science and Psychology and Project Manager for 'ElViSuL' at Freie Universität Berlin. She conducts scientific project management for the research project 'ElViSuL – Parental trust in schools and teachers' at the Department of General Educational Science.
Her educational background includes both Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Educational Science from Freie Universität Berlin. Her Master's thesis focused on 'Trust through appreciation as interaction quality in pedagogical relationships - professionalization of teachers from a trust and appreciation theory perspective' supervised by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Inka Bormann, while her Bachelor's thesis examined 'The racism-critical approach in schools. Possibilities for the professionalization of teachers from a migration society perspective' supervised by Dr. Hanne Balzer.
Dr. Faustmann's research centers on trust in educational contexts, particularly examining how parental trust in schools and teachers develops during the transition from primary to secondary school. She leads the ElViSuL project (2024-2027), a qualitative longitudinal study funded by the German Research Foundation that investigates trust development through episodic interviews conducted at three critical time points during the educational transition process. Her work integrates trust theory with educational transition research, exploring the complex interplay of cognitive, emotional, and motivational aspects of trust.
She is concurrently pursuing doctoral studies in Qualitative Educational and Social Research at the Center for Social World Research and Method Development, OVGU Magdeburg (2024-2025). Her previous experience includes serving as a Research Assistant at TU Berlin (2019-2024) and conducting research on trust in pedagogical relationships at FU Berlin (2021-2023). She has also worked as a freelance teacher in Berlin schools, including participation in the 'Stark trotz Corona' educational recovery program.
