Franz Newland

Franz Newland is an Associate Professor at the School of Engineering Design and Teaching Innovation, University of Ottawa. With over two decades of experience in Space Engineering across industry and academia in Europe and Canada, his work bridges multidisciplinary learning, engineering education, and space systems. He focuses on lifelong learning, learning organizations, and integrating AI into space mission design and operations.

His research interests span engineering education frameworks, organizational learning dynamics, and space mission architecture. Notable projects include the DESCENT CubeSat mission and the Real Engineering: Space program, emphasizing experiential and community-driven learning.
