Dr. Francesca 'Frankie' Wade is an Assistant Professor in the School of Exercise and Nutritional Sciences at San Diego State University, specializing in biomechanics and kinesiology. With a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University (2020), her research examines locomotor adaptation, gait mechanics, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
Her laboratory investigates movement disorders across populations including older adults, Parkinson's patients, and post-surgical cases. Recent publications analyze walking speed transitions, Achilles tendon mechanics, and ankle arthroplasty outcomes. She mentors numerous graduate and undergraduate researchers, with mentees winning research symposium awards.
Honors include the 2023 ASB Up and Comer Award and teaching excellence recognition. She maintains extensive professional certifications in biomechanics pedagogy and diversity initiatives.
