Frank To is an Art and Design Lecturer, personal academic tutor for the HND Contemporary Art Practice, and Module Leader for the BA(Hons) Art and Contemporary Practice at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) Inverness. His academic roles include teaching contemporary drawing/painting, professional practice, collaboration practices, research skills, and social activism. He is a key collaborator in the Humanium Metal Art Project with IM Swedish Development Partner, focusing on sustainable art using recycled materials from illegal firearms to align with UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Research Interests: Frank’s work emphasizes conceptual processes, social justice through art, and sustainable practices. His projects blend artistic innovation with global initiatives like disarmament advocacy, showcased at high-profile venues such as COP26, the United Nations, and SIPRI in Stockholm. His collaborative approach bridges art, business, and pedagogy to address contemporary societal challenges.
Frank’s current focus is advancing the Humanium Metal Project, transforming weapon-derived materials into artistic mediums. This initiative aligns with UN sustainability goals and has been presented internationally, reflecting his commitment to art as a tool for social change and environmental stewardship.
