Frank Hsu

Frank Hsu is the Clavius Distinguished Professor of Science and a Professor of Computer and Information Science (CIS) at Fordham University, where he also directs the Fordham Laboratory of Informatics and Data Mining (LIDM). He has held leadership roles including Chair of the CIS Department (1987-1992, 1999-2006) and Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (2008-2009).

Dr. Hsu’s research spans data science, cognitive computing, and combinatorial fusion analysis (CFA), with applications in biomedical informatics, wireless networking, financial informatics, and machine learning. His group has developed methods like ChIP-seq peak detection, consensus scoring in virtual screening, and stress identification.

His scientific contributions have been recognized with awards such as the Fordham Distinguished Teaching Award (2001), IBM Faculty Award (2012), and multiple best paper awards. He is a Fellow of ICA, NYAS, and ICIC, as well as a Senior Member of IEEE.

Dr. Hsu has co-founded significant academic initiatives, including the International Conference on Cyber Security (2009) and Fordham’s M.S. programs in Cybersecurity (2014) and Data Analytics (2016). He also co-organized the Fordham-IBM Forum on Analytics (2012) and Workshop on Blockchain (2017).
