معرفی
Frank Hegmann is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Alberta, specializing in ultrafast phenomena, terahertz (THz) science, and nanophysics. He leads two labs: the Ultrafast Spectroscopy Lab and the Ultrafast Nanotools Lab, focused on exploring ultrafast processes in materials using femtosecond lasers and THz spectroscopy. His research spans THz-STM imaging, carrier dynamics in semiconductors, and biological effects of intense THz pulses.
Dr. Hegmann holds the 2014-15 McCalla Professorship and the Alberta Innovates/iCORE Strategic Chair in Terahertz Science. He is recognized for teaching excellence, winning the 2013 Faculty of Science Award for Excellent Teaching. His courses include PHYS 271 (Modern Physics), PHYS 297 (Experimental Physics II), and PHYS 381 (Electromagnetic Theory I), emphasizing modern applications in quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, and experimental techniques.
His publications address THz spectroscopy applications in nanomaterials, ultrafast dynamics, and biomedical impacts, with over 50 peer-reviewed articles since 2012. Key themes include THz pulse-induced material modifications, carrier mobility in semiconductors, and LIBS-based environmental sensing. Hegmann’s work bridges fundamental physics with interdisciplinary applications in photonics, energy materials, and biophysics.
