معرفی
Franco Marenco is an Associate Professor at The Cyprus Institute (CyI), affiliated with the Climate and Atmosphere Research Center (CARE-C). He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Genova (Italy, 2006), specializing in atmospheric aerosols. His expertise spans aerosol dynamics, lidar remote sensing, and synergistic use of remote sensing and in-situ measurements.
Previously, he worked at the UK Met Office (2009–2023), contributing to operational meteorology, hazard management, and satellite imagery analysis. He led airborne campaigns (e.g., FAAM aircraft studies on volcanic emissions and Saharan dust) and managed the Met Office’s Satellite Imagery team, enhancing leadership and interdisciplinary skills.
At CyI, Marenco focuses on transboundary atmospheric constituents, integrating ground-based remote sensing with UAV-based sampling from the Unmanned Systems Research Laboratory (USRL). He co-authored ~80 publications (H-index 24) and spearheaded the successful Dust-DN Doctoral Network (2023), a European initiative uniting 23 partners to address atmospheric dust research.
- Key Projects: ASKOS campaign, Dust-DN network, AER-D studies
- Labs/Teams: CARE-C, USRL
- Grants/Awards: EU-funded Dust-DN (100% success score)
