Franck Ramus is a Senior Research Scientist (Directeur de recherches) at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), affiliated with the Laboratoire de Sciences Cognitives et Psycholinguistique (LSCP) within the Department of Cognitive Studies at École Normale Supérieure, PSL University, Paris. He leads the "Cognitive development and pathology" research team, focusing on individual differences in cognitive development, school achievement, and neurodevelopmental disorders. He has held adjunct professorships and co-directed the Master in Cognitive Science program at ENS, EHESS, and Université Paris-Descartes.
His research interests include:
- Developmental dyslexia and its cognitive, neural, and genetic bases
- Language, literacy, and numeracy development
- Sex differences in cognition and education
- Psychopathology and general intelligence
- Epidemiological approaches using large birth cohorts (EDEN, ELFE, UK Biobank)
- Neuroimaging (fMRI, MEG, diffusion MRI) and experimental methods
His recent publications reflect a strong trend in integrating genetics, neuroimaging, and large-scale epidemiological data to understand the multifactorial origins of learning disabilities and cognitive variation. His work spans disciplines including cognitive neuroscience, educational psychology, behavioral genetics, and developmental science, with a focus on dyslexia, brain connectivity, intelligence, and environmental influences.

Franck Ramus has secured major research funding from the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) and the Fondation pour l'Audition for projects on dyslexia, cognitive development, and educational neuroscience. He supervises interns and researchers, and his team conducts large-scale studies on learning, memory, and neurodevelopment. He is actively involved in public dissemination and policy discussions on dyslexia and education.
He heads the "Cognitive development and pathology" team at LSCP, which conducts interdisciplinary research combining neuroscience, psychology, and epidemiology to understand the determinants of cognitive development and learning disorders.
