Francisco Ochoa-Corona

Dr. Francisco Ochoa-Corona is a Professor in the Department of Entomology & Plant Pathology and the Institute for Biosecurity & Microbial Forensics (IBMF) at Oklahoma State University (OSU). He holds a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the University of Florida and has expertise in forensic plant pathology, agricultural biosecurity, and microbial forensics. His research focuses on developing diagnostic tools for plant pathogens, such as viruses and fungi, to support biosecurity efforts globally.

Research Interests: Dr. Ochoa-Corona’s work includes inventing diagnostic technologies like EDNA-MiFi for rapid pathogen detection, molecular landmark identification, and surveillance of high-consequence microorganisms. His projects target viruses affecting crops like soybeans, wheat, and ornamentals, as well as waterborne pathogens and arthropod vectors. He collaborates with agencies such as USDA-NIFA and the American Flower Endowment.
