Francisco Matorras Weinig

Francisco Matorras Weinig is a Professor of Physics at the University of Cantabria's Department of Modern Physics and serves as Vice-Rector of the Las Llamas Campus and Coordinator of Teaching and Research Centers at the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP). He previously held the role of Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Cantabria from 2014 to 2021. He is a researcher at the Institute of Physics of Cantabria (IFCA), where he also served as director. His doctoral thesis (1993) focused on electroweak precision measurements and tau lepton physics, conducted at CERN's LEP particle accelerator. His current research emphasizes data analysis in particle physics and interdisciplinary applications, and he co-directs the official Master's in Data Science at UIMP and the University of Cantabria.
