Dr. Francisco Masdeu Mayans is an Associate Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) within the Department of Physics under the Higher Polytechnic School. He holds degrees in Chemistry (University of Barcelona), Materials Engineering (Polytechnic University of Catalonia), and a PhD in Physics (UIB).

His research focuses on advanced materials, including superconducting ceramics, shape-memory alloys, and thermal properties of eco-friendly building materials. He leads the Architectural Constructions and Building Engineering research group (CONSTARQ) and collaborates with the Materials Physics (FISMAT) and Construction Engineering (ConStruct) groups.
Teaching areas include Materials II/III, Metallic and Synthetic Materials, Stone Materials, and Final Degree Projects. He has taught at the UIB since 2007, covering construction pathology, quality control, and materials engineering.
