Francisco López-Muñoz is a Professor of Pharmacology and Director of the International Doctorate program. He earned his PhD in Medicine from Complutense University (1993) with the Doctorate Extraordinary Award and a second PhD in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Alcalá (2015). His research spans neuropharmacology, antioxidant therapies, and public health in mental health frameworks.
His recent publications focus on neuroprotective agents for cerebral ischemia, multifunctional ligands for neurodegenerative diseases, and historical analyses of antidepressants and neuroleptics. These works emphasize pharmacological innovation and oxidative stress mechanisms.
He has received the Doctorate Extraordinary Award and serves in editorial roles for Frontiers in Neuroscience, Frontiers in Pharmacology, and Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, including Associate Editor and Review Editor positions.
