Francisco Escobar Prado is a Lecturer at the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at ETH Zurich. His research focuses on distributed energy resources (DERs), voltage stability in power systems, and improving models for DER behavior during disturbances. He holds a PhD in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich (2024), and prior degrees from the University of Costa Rica, including a BSc (2019), Lic (2021), and MSc (2023) in Electrical Engineering.
His recent work revises the DER_A model’s tripping logic to better represent DER responses to voltage and frequency events. He emphasizes coordination between transmission and distribution operators for voltage control. Escobar Prado is an IEEE Member since 2019.
