Francisco Aires

Francisco Aires is a Researcher at Claude Bernard University Lyon 1, affiliated with the Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse et l'Environnement de Lyon (IRCELYON). He serves on the laboratory council and leads the Methodologies in Environmental Microscopy (MEME) research group, coordinating the IRCATECH characterization platform.

His research integrates thermodynamic, analytical, and reaction methodologies to advance environmental catalysis and microscopy. Key focus areas include Atmospheric Chemistry, Heterogeneous Catalysis for Energy Transition, and Sustainable Chemistry, with specialized expertise in in situ/operando electron microscopy (ESEM/ETEM), surface reactivity analysis of nanoparticles/aerosols, and catalytic processes for CO₂/CH₄ conversion.
