Francisca Oñate Oyaneder

Francisca Oñate Oyaneder is an Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture and Design of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) in Viña del Mar, Chile. She joined the institution in 2016 and currently teaches architectural design workshops focusing on interior spaces and spatial concepts.

Her research interests center around architectural heritage documentation, spatial theory, and the relationship between physical spaces and cultural narratives. Her work bridges practical design education with theoretical exploration of architectural spaces.

Professor Oñate leads significant research projects including 'Between Pages and Drawings: Revealing the Cultural Heritage of the Logbooks of the PUCV School of Architecture and Design' (2024-2025) and 'Life, work, and study logs. PUCV Teachers' Notebooks' (2023), which examine the historical documentation practices within architectural education.

She teaches the 'Workshop on the Act and the Void: House Workshop; The Spaciousness of an Interior' in both semesters of 2023 (ARQ 1171, 10 credits), demonstrating her focus on spatial concepts in architectural education.
