As a John Hope Franklin Fellow, Oyogoa developed a theoretical framework analyzing employers as racial agents in her dissertation Economics or Racism: Untold Story of Pullman Porters. Her work highlights how racial prejudices shaped labor relations and economic structures in the railroad industry.
Teaching emphasizes mentoring students as "kindred spirits" who share her passion for early college education. Students describe her as an inspirational mentor who supports individualized academic journeys through close engagement with sociological concepts and historical analysis.
