Francisca Alves Cardoso

Francisca Alves Cardoso is a Research Fellow at CRIA (NOVA FCSH) in Portugal, specializing in Biological Anthropology and Forensic Sciences. With a PhD from Durham University and a Master's from Coimbra University, her work focuses on paleopathological analysis, stable isotopes, and ethical considerations in bioarchaeology.

Her research spans Portuguese populations from medieval to 20th century, examining child-mother dietary relationships, skeletal trauma patterns, and museum digitization. She leads the LABOH laboratory and organizes international webinars.

Key awards include the 2023 30 Years, 30 Anthropologists distinction and multiple Zenodo open-access grants. She currently supervises internships and serves as journal reviewer.
