Dr Francis Rees is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Essex and Co-ordinator of the Child Influencer Project, which investigates digital child labor in social media industries. Her work combines critical legal perspectives with practical research, focusing on safeguarding children involved in influencer marketing.

Her recent publications examine the legal implications of child influencers and innovative approaches to legal education. She is currently authoring a book, The True Cost of Digital Child Labour – A Risk Assessment for Child Influencers, to be published in 2026.
Dr Rees' research integrates Foucauldian frameworks, analyzing Instagram as a heterotopia, and emphasizes experiential research methods through the Socio-Legal Studies Association.
