Francesco Vitale is a Full Professor of Aesthetics at the University of Salerno. He holds affiliations within the Department of Philosophy and has contributed to academic activities at institutions like the Académie d’été de l’école de philosophie d’Epineuil le Fleuriel (directed by Bernard Stiegler). His research spans German Classical Aesthetics, Contemporary French Philosophy, and the intersection of deconstruction with life sciences. Notable works include Biodeconstruction: Jacques Derrida and the Life Sciences (2018) and The Last Fortress of Metaphysics: Jacques Derrida and the Deconstruction of Architecture (2018). Recent articles (2022–2024) explore teleology in biology, ecological interpretations of deconstruction, and Derrida’s engagement with architectural theory. His work bridges philosophy with disciplines like epigenetics, political theory, and urban studies. Vitale’s monograph on Jean-Luc Godard (La farmacia di Godard, 2021) further demonstrates his interdisciplinary reach. He actively participates in academic networks, presenting at conferences and contributing to journals like CR: The New Centennial Review and Derrida Today.
Education: PhD in Philosophy from Università di Napoli Federico II (2000).
Research focuses on deconstructing metaphysical frameworks in architecture, biology, and political thought, emphasizing interdisciplinary dialogue between philosophy and empirical sciences. His articles often critique scientific assumptions through a philosophical lens, as seen in analyses of Ernst Mayr’s teleonomy and François Jacob’s biology.
