Francesco Nocera is an Associate Professor of Environmental Technical Physics at the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture (DICAR), University of Catania, Italy. He specializes in building physics, energy systems, and sustainable architecture. His roles include Scientific Responsible of the Energetic Sustainability and Environmental Control (SECA) laboratory in Syracuse and membership in international organizations like the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) and the IEA Task 59 on historic building renovation.
Education:
- Civil Engineering (B.Sc., 1997) – University of Catania
- Ph.D. in Applied Physics (2002) – University of Palermo
Research Focus: Experimental studies on indoor air quality, zero-energy buildings, passive house design, solar energy integration, and thermal/acoustic comfort. He also investigates environmental impacts of urbanization and climate change adaptation strategies.
