Francesco Gerali

Francesco Gerali is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of History at The University of Western Australia, affiliated with the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic. His research focuses on the history of science and technology, particularly the development of the global oil industry and energy history. He holds a PhD in History of Science from the University of Bari and an MLIS from the University of Oklahoma.

His research explores the intersection of geology, engineering, and environmental history to analyze the socio-technological evolution of the oil industry. Current projects include a study on Australia's early oil industry transition and the role of small producer nations in shaping global energy narratives.

Grants & Fellowships: Commonwealth Endeavour Fellowship Program (2015). He has held postdoctoral positions at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and currently collaborates with international institutions like the IEEE History Committee.
