معرفی
Francesco Buccheri is a Fixed-term Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT) at Politecnico di Torino, specializing in theoretical condensed matter physics with a focus on topological materials. He is affiliated with the College of Electronic, Telecommunications, and Physics Engineering and is a member of the Condensed Matter Physics and Complex Systems Institute.
His primary research interests include:
- Topological materials (insulators, semimetals, superconductors)
- Mesoscopic transport phenomena
- Weyl semimetals and nodal-line semimetals
- Quantum wires and junctions
- Electron-phonon interactions
Buccheri's research methodology primarily employs analytic calculations complemented by numerical approaches. His work focuses on transport phenomena in topological systems, examining fundamental quantum effects in materials with non-trivial topological properties. He has made significant contributions to understanding Fermi arcs in Weyl semimetals, drumhead states in nodal-line systems, and violations of conventional transport laws in topological materials.
His recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on quantum transport phenomena in topological materials, with particular emphasis on nonreciprocal effects, interface physics, and breakdown of fundamental physical laws in these exotic systems. His work bridges theoretical physics with potential applications in quantum computing and spintronics.
He is actively involved in the TOPMASQ research project (2024-2026), funded by PNRR Mission 4, which aims to develop topological material platforms for implementing Andreev spin qubits.
Buccheri supervises two PhD students working on light-matter interactions in topological semimetals and teaches both at the PhD level (Introduction to Topological Materials) and undergraduate level (Physics I for Aerospace Engineering students).
