Francesca Ravanetti is a Full Professor at the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences, University of Parma, Italy. She holds the academic rank of Professor (SSD VET/01 Anatomy of Domestic Animals) and is qualified as both Full and Associate Professor for the competitive sector 07/H1 (Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology). Her research focuses on biocompatibility, osseointegration of biomaterials, experimental osteochondrogenesis models, and anatomical-histological studies for preclinical lung research.
- Graduated with honors in Biotechnology for Health (2004)
- PhD in Molecular Biology and Pathology (2010)
Her scientific work includes scanning/transmission electron microscopy studies of biomaterial-cell interactions, spatial profiling of lung tissue, and longitudinal analysis of gene expression in animal models. She serves as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Veterinary Science and is an active member of multiple scientific societies including the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB) and Italian Association of Veterinary Morphologists (AMV), where she holds the role of Secretary-Treasurer (2023-2026).
She has received the 2017 AMV Research Award for her work on lung imaging approaches and has contributed to cutting-edge studies involving:
- Multimodal imaging techniques
- Hybrid nanosystems for osteogenic applications
- Pulmonary fibrosis models
- Nanoparticle effects on cartilage regeneration
- Short-chain fatty acid interactions with immune cells
- Single-cell spatial profiling technologies
As an educator, she teaches:
- Veterinary Topographical Anatomy (2016-2025)
- Experimental Models in Translational Regenerative Medicine (2016-2025)
- Anatomical Structures of Animal-Origin Primary Productions
She serves as:
- Member of the Teaching Committee for Veterinary Medical Sciences Doctoral Program
- Coordinator of the TOLC-VET admission exam
- Scientific Committee member for Area 07 (Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences)
- Research Repository Manager for the Department
