Francesca Raffi is an Associate Professor of English Language and Translation at the University of Macerata (Italy) and Honorary Fellow at the University of Liverpool (UK). She holds a PhD in English for Special Purposes from the University of Naples 'Federico II' and has conducted research at institutions including the University of Roehampton (UK). Her academic career includes roles as Senior Assistant Professor (2020-2023) and Post-Doctoral Researcher (2018-2019).
Research: Focuses on re(translation), linguistic/sensorial accessibility (including intersemiotic translation), and reception studies of translated media. Key projects include leadership of the UNITE project (AI-powered language learning) and participation in UPSKILLS (curriculum development for linguistics students). She has contributed to FACS (museum accessibility model) and InclusivOpera (cultural impact studies).
Teaching: Teaches at undergraduate/graduate levels in Italy and abroad, including courses on audiovisual translation, media interpreting, and translation technologies. Supervised 187 theses across BA/Master's levels.
