Francesca Molinari is the H.T. Warshow and Robert Irving Warshow Professor of Economics at Cornell University, affiliated with the Department of Economics within the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on econometric theory, particularly partial identification, and applied work on risk preferences. She earned her PhD from Northwestern University and a BS from Università degli Studi di Torino (Italy).
Her academic interests span econometrics, statistics, and survey methodology, with emphasis on decision-making under uncertainty. She has contributed to foundational work in partial identification frameworks, rounding effects in survey data, and the analysis of risk preferences using field data. Molinari has held editorial roles, including Coeditor at the Journal of Political Economy, and has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Willard G. Manning Memorial Award and fellowships from the Econometric Society and International Association for Applied Econometrics.
Her research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and National Institute of Aging. She teaches advanced courses like Semi and Nonparametric Econometrics and Third Year Research Seminar, and has organized major conferences such as the 2025 Econometric Society World Congress.
