Francesca Giaume

Francesca Giaume is a Research Fellow in the Laboratory of Plant Physiology, focusing on plant responses to environmental stressors including water deficit and temperature fluctuations. Her work integrates molecular signaling pathways with physiological growth processes to understand plant adaptation mechanisms.

Her research spans Plant Physiology, Stress Signaling, and Molecular Biology, with specific expertise in sucrose metabolism, kinase signaling cascades, and developmental responses under abiotic stress. She investigates how plants coordinate temperature and water stress signals to regulate root elongation, seed germination, and reproductive yield through phosphotransferase-mediated pathways.

Dr. Giaume actively mentors PhD candidate van Waijjen, H. on maintaining crop yield under abiotic stress and leads the Plant XR C1 project as Principal Investigator, examining temperature-water deficit integration in seedlings. Her current projects demonstrate significant research leadership with active funding until 2027.

Her laboratory work centers on the fingerprinted research areas of Sucrose, Kinase, Phosphotransferase, and Water Stress signaling, utilizing advanced physiological and molecular techniques to dissect stress response networks in plant development.
