- Education: PhD (2014, Imperial College London); MSc in Applied Physics (University of Bologna); BSc in Physics (University of Bologna)
Research Focus
Galassi’s work centers on AI-driven healthcare innovations, particularly in medical imaging. She specializes in automated detection and segmentation of multiple sclerosis lesions in MRI scans, addressing challenges in data variability from different acquisition systems or patient populations. Her research leverages deep learning and transfer learning to improve model robustness, supported by the RHU Primus project and collaborations on chronic stroke lesion segmentation.
Teaching & Academic Leadership
She teaches Deep Learning for Image Processing, Graph Algorithms, and Medical Imaging at ESIR, as well as Image Processing at École Normale Supérieure de Rennes and Deep Learning in the Master EIT Data Science program. She co-manages the Information Systems specialty at ESIR and served on the Women in MICCAI Board (2021–2023).
Labs & Affiliations
Galassi is affiliated with the Empenn lab (IRISA-Inria, Rennes) and contributes to interdisciplinary projects like the ROBO-K initiative in medical robotics.
