Francesc Xavier Cahis is a full professor at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Construction Engineering at the University of Girona. He is affiliated with the AMADE research group (Advanced Analysis and Materials for Structural Design), where he contributes to structural engineering advancements.
His research focuses on passive design for earthquake-resistant buildings, with notable work on innovative energy dissipating arms and low-cycle fatigue models to predict structural lifespan. His doctoral thesis, titled Development of a new energy dissipator for earthquake-resistant design (April 2001), earned the Excellent CUM LAUDE qualification.
