Frances Jane Kiely is a Lecturer in Learning Disability Nursing at the University of Wolverhampton's School of Nursing within the Faculty of Education, Health & Wellbeing. She holds professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and is a member of the Royal College of Nursing. Her academic journey includes a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care from Newman University (2016-2018) and a First-Class BSc Honours in Learning Disability Nursing from the University of Wolverhampton (2018-2021).
Her research examines critical intersections between learning disabilities and mental health, with specific focus on:
- Behavioral challenges in learning disability populations
- Quality-of-life improvements for individuals with learning disabilities
- Professional education frameworks for autism and learning disability care
- Forensic mental health interventions
Prior to academia, Frances accumulated three years of clinical experience in a forensic hospital setting, specializing in care for women with learning disabilities and mental health conditions under the Mental Health Act.
