France Galerneau, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine. She holds multiple leadership roles including Director of the Across the Lifespan Master Course, Interim Vice Chair for Medical Education, Director of Residency Ultrasound Curriculum, and Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Course for the Physician Associate Program. She is affiliated with the High-Risk Pregnancy Program, Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit, and Prenatal Genetic Diagnosis Program at Yale Medicine.

Dr. Galerneau’s research and scholarly interests center on medical education, particularly in obstetrics and gynecology. Her primary areas include developing clinical reasoning skills in medical students, graduate education in maternal-fetal medicine, and teaching obstetric and pelvic ultrasound. She has a strong focus on prenatal diagnosis, fetal assessment, and maternal complications of pregnancy. Her work extends to reproductive health equity and international medical education, including training initiatives in Uganda.
Her recent publications reflect a consistent focus on innovative teaching methods, simulation-based training for emergency postpartum hemorrhage, and curriculum development in reproductive health equity. She has also contributed extensively to obstetric imaging literature, particularly in fetal anomalies such as Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome and fetal hepatic calcifications.

Dr. Galerneau is actively involved in mentoring faculty and residents, facilitating faculty development sessions on clinical reasoning, and leading curriculum reform at Yale. She has directed major educational initiatives and serves on key committees including the Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee and the Department’s DEI Education Committee. She collaborates with prominent researchers such as Dr. Harvey Kliman, Dr. Janet Hafler, and Dr. Lubna Pal on interdisciplinary projects in medical education and maternal-fetal health.
She is a member of the Maternal Fetal Medicine team and contributes to the Prenatal Laboratory and Yale Ventures. Her international collaborations include work on ethical guidelines for ICU triage during pandemics and global ultrasound training programs.
