Dr. Foong Yong
Dr. Foong Yong is a Lecturer in Microbiology and Food Safety at the School of Science, RMIT University. His research focuses on molecular diagnostics, environmental microbiology, and food safety, particularly leveraging bacteriophage applications and PCR-based methodologies. He supervises projects on biosensing probes and bacterial spoilage control in food systems.
Research Interests
- Legionella detection and molecular diagnostics
- Water quality monitoring via bacteriophage analysis
- Food safety through microbial contamination studies
Teaching & Supervision
- Supervised projects include Developing biosensing probes using phage display technology (2024) and Control of Bacterial Spoilage in Lamb Meat by Using Bacteriophage (2022).
Affiliations
Based at the Bundoora West campus, he contributes to RMIT's interdisciplinary research in science and public health.
