Florian Kluge is a Professor of Project Management and Dean of the Department of Architecture at Alanus Hochschule in Alfter, Germany. He also leads the Institute for Process Architecture (IPA). His academic roles include teaching project management methodologies and promoting collaborative, open-ended processes in architectural and urban development. Kluge holds a Dr.-Ing. from RWTH Aachen and has extensive experience in landscape architecture, urban planning, and participatory design.
Education includes a Diploma in Landscape Architecture from the University of Hannover (1992–1998), followed by roles as a project leader at WES & Partner in Hamburg and a researcher at RWTH Aachen's Landscape Architecture Chair. His career spans academia, industry, and public engagement.
Research focuses on process architecture, participatory urban design, and temporary interventions in public spaces. Key projects include the 'Baukultur konkret' initiative, promoting community-driven urban development, and the 'Raum auf Zeit' series, exploring temporary art installations. His work emphasizes co-creation, flexible process design, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Publications highlight project management in open processes, participatory urbanism, and Baukultur strategies. Awards include the Förderpreis DVP (2009) and the Borchers-Plakette (2009). Kluge actively collaborates with institutions like the Bundesinstitut für Bau-, Stadt- und Raumforschung (BBSR) and the Montag Stiftung Urbane Räume, leading workshops and symposia on urban development and citizen engagement.
