Florian Hintz

Florian Hintz is a Research Fellow at the Psychology of Language Department of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen. His research focuses on mechanisms underlying language production/comprehension, with recent emphasis on individual differences in linguistic and cognitive skills, prediction during language processing, and speech comprehension in noisy environments. He coordinates the Individual Differences in Language Skills cluster funded by the Language in Interaction consortium.

Education: BSc and MSc in Linguistics from Leipzig University, PhD at Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, followed by postdoctoral research at Radboud University's Center for Language Studies.

Teaching roles include lecturing on 'Psychology of Language and Cultural Cognition' (Radboud University), 'Trends in Cognitive Neuroscience', and 'Speech Comprehension and Production'. He has also conducted workshops on eye-tracking methods for language research.

Public outreach includes collaborations with Dutch Ministry of Defense, workshops at Regiodag 2022, and media features like the Ach, Mensch! podcast discussing language learning genetics. He coordinates interdisciplinary research teams and supervises over 20 students across PhD, Master's, and Bachelor's levels since 2013.

Labs/Teams: Leads the Individual Differences in Language Skills research cluster, integrating genetics, cognitive science, and psycholinguistics to study language variability.
