Florian Auras

Dr. Florian Auras is a Researcher at TU Dresden and the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, Halle. He leads the Dynamics and Physics of 2D Frameworks group, funded by the DFG, and focuses on crystalline two-dimensional polymers like Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs) for applications in information technology.

• Education: B.Sc. from University of Augsburg, M.Sc. from TU München, Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from LMU Munich (2013).
• Prior appointments: Postdoctoral Researcher (2013–2016), Subgroup Leader at LMU Munich; Research Associate at University of Cambridge (2016–2022).
• Research interests: Molecular design of switchable optical/electronic/spin materials, DNA-assembled semiconductors, and COF-based architectures for sensing and spintronics.

His work includes DNA-encoded π-stacking of perylene diimides and solvatochromic COFs, with over 40 publications, 5000+ citations, and an h-index of 28. Current projects emphasize dynamic 2D frameworks under the DFG grant (2023–2026).
