Florenci Serras

Florenci Serras is a Professor at the University of Barcelona's Faculty of Biology, affiliated with the Department of Genetics, Microbiology and Statistics. His research focuses on genetic regulation of tissue regeneration, oxidative stress mechanisms, and nanotechnology applications in tumor detection.

• Education: PhD in Biology from Utrecht University (1989), and Biology degree from University of Barcelona (1982)

Active in multidisciplinary projects such as 'Continuous two-dimensional Stretch monitoring of fresh tissue Biopsies (StretchBio)' (EU-funded, 2021-2025) and 'Genética y genómica de la regeneración epitelial' (Spanish Ministry, 2022-2025). Leads the REGnetREG research group.

Key research themes include ROS signaling in regeneration, Drosophila models for studying regeneration pathways, and nanotechnology for medical diagnostics. Co-developed the 'On-chip Electrical Flow Cytometry for Cancer Cell Detection' project (2014-2016).
