Florence d’Alché-Buc is a full professor at Télécom Paris (Institut Polytechnique de Paris) since 2014, leading research in machine learning and AI. She heads the Image, Data, Signal (IDS) Department and holds the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence for Digitalized Industry and Services (DSAIDIS) Chair. Her work focuses on kernel methods, structured prediction, reliable AI, and bioinformatics applications. She co-leads the Master’s in Data Science at Université Paris-Saclay and pioneered the PASCAL Network’s Challenges program. Key roles include Scientific Director of Digiscome Labex and ELLIS Fellow.
Research emphasizes frugal AI, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing model explainability. Recent contributions include work on metabolite identification via kernel-based methods and AI sustainability. She collaborates with institutions like Columbia University and co-organized the MLSE 2020 conference. Awards include the Simons Chair (2025) and leadership roles in AI ethics and regulation initiatives.
