Firouzeh Sabri is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Physics and Materials Science at the University of Memphis. Her research focuses on experimental materials physics, particularly the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials such as aerogels, elastomeric materials, and mesoporous compounds. She leads projects on RTV-aerogel compounds for cryogenic tank applications in space exploration and crosslinked aerogels for biomedical uses as 'Smart' implants. Her work integrates advanced techniques like atomic force microscopy and phosphor thermometry to study material properties. Sabri directs the MemphisCRESH summer internship program for undergraduate students and has received the 2008 APS Hildred Blewett Award. Her research group includes postdoctoral associates, graduate students, and undergraduates, with notable grants from NASA EPSCoR, FedEx Institute of Technology, and TN SCORE. Key areas of study include biomaterials for nerve guidance, regolith mitigation for Mars exploration, and flexible ceramic sensors for extreme environments.
