Fiona McCarthy is a Professor at the School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences, part of the College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Sciences at the University of Arizona. Her research focuses on genomics, bioinformatics, and animal biology, with a particular emphasis on poultry genetics, comparative genomics, and functional annotation of genomes.
Her work includes developing standardized gene nomenclature systems for avian species, proteomic analyses of regenerative biology in reptiles, and bioinformatics tools for agricultural genomics. She has contributed to initiatives like the FarmGTEx project and HPIDB (Host-Pathogen Interaction Database).
