- PhD in Hispanic Studies – University College Cork (2018)
Her research lies at the intersection of film studies, trauma theory, phenomenology, and Latin American cultural studies. She explores how trauma is represented in cinema, particularly through the lens of Edith Stein’s philosophy and the works of Argentine filmmakers such as Albertina Carri and Pablo Trapero. Her work engages deeply with moral subjectivity, witnessing, and the ethical dimensions of cinematic representation.
The body of her publications from 2013 to 2022 reveals a sustained engagement with trauma, memory, and identity in Latin American cinema. Her articles frequently analyze how personal and political trauma intersect in film, using philosophical frameworks to deepen understanding. Themes of crisis, injury, adolescence, and holiness recur, reflecting a unique blend of philosophical and cinematic inquiry.
Her scientific recognition includes funding from the Irish Research Council for her doctoral research.
