Fiona Bowie

Fiona Bowie is a Teaching Fellow in Gaelic Education at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh, within the Institute for Education, Teaching & Leadership (IETL). She holds roles in teaching and leadership within primary education programs, focusing on Gaelic-medium and STEAM subjects. Her career includes 5 years as a primary teacher in Gaelic-medium schools and prior training as a midwife, influencing her interest in early childhood development and child psychology.

Qualifications:

• PGDE Primary Education with Gaelic
• GTCS Professional Recognition Leadership training

Research & Teaching Focus: Dedicated to improving science education in primary schools, addressing staff confidence gaps. Her work integrates insights from early childhood development and parent-child relationships into pedagogical strategies.

• PGDE Primary Programme (Science, Technology, Mathematics workshops)
• Personal tutoring for MA students
