Finn Tarp is a Professor of Development Economics at the University of Copenhagen and former Director of UNU-WIDER (2009-2018). With over 45 years of experience in academic and applied development economics, he has conducted fieldwork in 35+ countries including Eswatini, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Vietnam.

Research interests span poverty reduction, income distribution, macroeconomic modeling, agricultural policy, climate change, and disaster resilience. His recent work focuses on inequality, post-crisis recovery, and institutional diagnostics in developing economies.

- Vietnamese Government Medals of Honour (2014, 2011)
- Zeuthen Award, Danish Economic Society (1979)
- Institute of Economics Teaching Award (1996)
He has advised governments and multilateral organizations, authored 140+ top-tier journal articles, and contributed to 30+ edited volumes. Current focus areas include structural transformation and inclusive development in Africa and Asia.
