معرفی
Prof. Dr. Filiz Kalelioğlu is a Professor in the Computer and Instructional Technologies Education program at Başkent University. With a PhD in Educational Technologies from Ankara University (2011) and postdoctoral research at King's College London (2017), she has established herself as a leading researcher in computational thinking, programming education, and educational technology. Her work spans multiple educational levels from primary to higher education, with a particular focus on integrating technology into teaching practices.
Her educational background includes:
- Postdoctoral Research (2017) in Computer Science Education at King's College London
- Master's Degree (2022) in Computer Engineering from Başkent University
- PhD (2011) in Educational Technologies from Ankara University
- Master's Degree (2007) in Computer and Instructional Technologies Education from Middle East Technical University
- Bachelor's Degree (2005) in Computer and Instructional Technologies Education from Başkent University
Prof. Kalelioğlu's research primarily focuses on computational thinking development, programming education, and innovative teaching methods in technology-enhanced learning environments. Her work examines how students and teachers develop computational thinking skills through various programming platforms, including block-based and text-based programming languages. She has conducted extensive research on flipped classrooms, physical computing, and the integration of computational thinking across different subject areas. Her studies often employ mixed-methods approaches to understand both cognitive and affective aspects of technology-enhanced learning.
Analysis of her 15 most recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on computational thinking assessment and practical implementation strategies across educational contexts. Her research spans primary, secondary, and higher education settings, with increasing focus on inclusive practices for students with disabilities and pandemic-era educational challenges. Recent work shows particular interest in early childhood STEM education, physical programming tools, and the relationship between computational and mathematical thinking.
Prof. Kalelioğlu has supervised numerous graduate students and collaborated on multiple research projects including:
- "Türkiye'de Kaliteli Çıraklık ve Mesleki Eğitim Yoluyla Mülteciler ve Ev Sahibi Toplulukların İstihdama Erişimlerinin Kolaylaştırılması" (2024-2028)
- "Özel Gereksinimli Yükseköğretim Öğrencilerinin Akademik ve Psiko-Sosyal Açıdan Güçlendirilmesi" (2024)
- "Social inclusion for seniors by sport" (2023)
- "Digital Ecosystem for Teacher Training Project" (2024)
Her teaching expertise includes courses on Open and Distance Learning, Multimedia Instructional Design, Educational Technologies, Innovative Technologies in Education, and Blended Learning Design.
